What's New

Early Summer 2008 musings

So far 2008 has been a strange weather year; a very dry Spring followed by severe frosts followed by a heat wave. Hmmm….Well, we have managed through these challenges quite well and our vines in west Marin are looking healthy and happy. Over in Oakville (Napa Valley), our TEXTBOOK vineyard partnership is blossoming and we are really "nailing it" in the vineyard. We wish we were as fortunate with recent exchange rates as we watch French oak barrel prices skyrocket. Ouch.

NEW! We are releasing our first new wine in a while - Pey-Lucia Pinot Noir "Frisquet", from the Santa Lucia Highlands. This tiny region on the central coast is one of America’s best regions for superb Pinot Noir, and our Pey-Lucia perfectly showcases the delicious attributes of this region. In fact, it has already been written up in the San Jose Mercury News and has been selected as a "Hot Newcomer" by PinotDays. Jonathan will be speaking at their June 29 seminar and tasting in San Francisco.

On another "nomination" front, our 2007 Pey-Marin Riesling will be featured at the Aspen Food & Wine Classic in their "American Raw Milk Cheeses" seminar, led by famed author and Cheesemonger Laura Werlin. This on top of its "Top 100 Wine of the Year" (SF Chronicle) and nice comments by noted critics Stephen Tanzer, Wine Enthusiast and Wine News encourages us to keep pushing the envelope with this delicious varietal.

Out on Tomales Bay, Nick's Cove Restaurant featured a delicious "Grown in Marin Dinner" in May which showcased our Pey-Marin Pinot Noir, Pey-Marin Riesling and Mount Tamalpais Merlot. Local oysters, lamb, mushrooms & more - simply delicious.

Lastly, thanks for all your encouraging comments, we really appreciate them! And remember, "Think globally, but eat & drink locally."
