Oakville District, Napa Valley - Textbook Vineyards
Napa Valley produces less than 5% of California's wines and is without peer when it comes to producing North America's finest Cabernet Sauvignon. Napa's tiny sub-appellation of Oakville is the nexus of Napa Valleys finest Cabernet Sauvignon.
Oakville isn't too hot; it isn't too cold. It's just right. That's why Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville so perfectly expresses the essential qualities of Cabernet Sauvignon in deep, complex wines with the structural integrity of acid and tannin that preserves the best wines for decades.
Our Textbook Vineyards "Mise en place" Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the eastern side of the Oakville District. This section of Oakville boasts the most famous Oakville wines; Screaming Eagle (our neighbor), Dalla Valle, Rudd, Joseph Phelps Insignia and others. Oakville's finest producers are congregated on the east-side because of its rocky, well-drained soils which make Cabernet Sauvignon vines struggle, thus concentrating their flavors. Sustainably-farmed, this mature site exhibits everything we could ask for.
Our Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon is so named because after tasting it so many times in barrel it exhibits the "textbook" characteristics one looks for in a classic Oakville red wine; brooding aromas of deep red fruits, dense texture, complex flavors, and a firm, yet balanced finish. "Mise en place" is a culinary term referring to "preparation in advance". That’s how we operate the vineyard and winery; be prepared, in advance.
