The Pey Family & The Environment

Natural winegrowing for us means producing the finest quality wines while working in harmony with nature and protecting the health of the earth and its people. We encourage environmentally friendly practices at many stages, from conserving soils and water, managing pests and using a natural approach in winemaking. In general, California’s dry growing season limits mold, rot and disease incidence, so winegrowing here uses far less inorganic materials than most European vineyards which regularly see rain during the summer.

Meet the Peys

We live in Marin County and have extensive, but rather different, experience in several aspects of the premium wine business in northern California, Europe & Australia.

Jonathan studied in France and later earned a BS degree in Agriculture and an MBA here in California. He enjoyed a career in the ultra-premium wine industry and has worked with some of the best – Domaine Louis Jadot and Chateau de Pommard (Burgundy), Robert Mondavi & Sterling Vineyards (Napa Valley) and Australia's iconic Penfolds.

Susan is a recognized leader in the "service" side of the wine industry with extensive training and experience in California and Europe. After attending university in Italy, she earned her BA degree in the US and soon began working as Wine Director for a large & prestigious restaurant group based in the Bay area. Today she is one of the most prominent restaurant wine buyers in North America. Her role enables her to professionally evaluate hundreds of wines per week – perfect experience to bring into our cellar!

Our three young daughters (Trois Filles) enjoy our family winery – especially chasing vineyard rabbits and playing on their “jungle gym” (we know it as the fermentation tanks!)
